our founder

Emma Harrison started Speech Buddies with one simple goal: to make a real difference for families.

After 20 years working as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS, and with two little ones of her own, Emma decided it was time to do things differently.

In 2017, she set up her own practice to give families the personalised, flexible support they needed. What began as a one-woman mission has grown into a brilliant team of therapists, helping children across the North East find their voice.

Emma’s dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed - she’s even been recognised nationally for her work. But for her, it’s all about seeing children thrive and giving parents the tools to support them every step of the way.

happy clients

  • Fay was very friendly and personable.

Our child settled with her very quickly. She understood our concerns and gave practical and useful exercises to work on.

  • Had a bit of a lightbulb moment about a couple of children in class, it was super helpful.

Also nice to hear an alternative perspective on PECs as I have not really agreed with them - maybe a time and a scenario but not all the time.

  • Emma is always so friendly, approachable and helpful when I need support with a pupil in school.

I have regularly watched her working with a pupil as I’ve moved through school and she makes sessions very interactive and fun. The children love her gentle, playful manner.
