TRAINING PACKAGES

Speech Buddies nursery & primary school resources

We’re passionate about supporting educators and school staff with practical tools to help every child thrive in their communication journey.

Our trainings are designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and offer actionable strategies that can be embedded into everyday learning environments.

Whether you're supporting children with language delays, developing rich vocabulary environments, or navigating alternative language pathways such as Gestalt Language Processing, these sessions are both engaging and clear to understand.

  • Designed for early years, primary and SEN staff, this session develops a clear understanding of typical and atypical speech sound development, including delayed and disordered patterns.

It supports staff to recognise when concerns may require specialist input and explains how intervention approaches are matched to individual children’s needs and stages of development. With a strong practical focus, participants explore classroom-based strategies that can be embedded into everyday practice, alongside guidance on referral to a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT).

Staff also gain confidence in planning and delivering effective small-group interventions, particularly for children with SEN.

  • Build confidence in recognising and supporting children who develop language through Gestalt Language Processing (GLP).

This session clarifies how GLP differs from analytic language development and explains why identifying this profile is essential for effective support, particularly for children with SEND.

Participants develop a clear understanding of echolalia as a meaningful and developmental stage of communication, and explore the stages of GLP progression.

With a strong practical focus, staff gain classroom-based strategies and child-led approaches that can be embedded into everyday practice to promote functional, meaningful communication.

  • Strengthen children’s sentence structure and expressive language skills using the structured, visual framework of Colourful Semantics.

This session develops a clear understanding of how the Colourful Semantics approach supports language development, including what each colour represents and how the system scaffolds sentence building. Participants gain confidence in introducing and applying the framework effectively, adapting it as children’s language skills progress.

With a strong practical focus, staff leave equipped with classroom-ready strategies and activities that can be embedded into everyday teaching and intervention, particularly for children with SEN.

  • Develop a clear and confident understanding of speech and language development across early years and primary settings.

Ideal as an introduction or refresher, this session strengthens knowledge of typical and atypical communication development and explores the impact of speech and language difficulties on learning, social interaction and wellbeing. Participants gain clarity on when to seek professional support and build confidence in understanding SLT terminology, reports and recommendations.

With a strong practical focus, staff explore how to create communication-friendly environments and embed effective vocabulary support strategies into everyday classroom practice.

  • Strengthen children’s vocabulary and word learning across the classroom with practical, evidence-informed strategies. This session deepens understanding of why vocabulary is fundamental to communication, learning and social development, and why a rich language environment benefits all learners, including those with additional needs.

Participants explore how to create classrooms that actively promote word learning, alongside effective approaches for teaching new vocabulary and supporting independent use.

With a strong practical focus, staff leave equipped to embed consistent, inclusive vocabulary support throughout everyday practice.

  • Support young children to move from limited communication to confident, functional language within early years settings.

This session provides practitioners with a practical toolkit of strategies that can be embedded throughout the day to strengthen communication skills.

With a focus on everyday routines such as play, snack time and transitions, participants explore evidence-informed approaches to building vocabulary, sentence structure and speaking confidence.

Staff leave equipped to create engaging, language-rich environments that encourage children to communicate more independently and become confident, motivated “chatter boxes.”

  • Create a classroom environment where communication can thrive for every learner.

This session strengthens understanding of why communication underpins learning, social development and inclusion, and explores the factors that contribute to communication differences.

Participants are introduced to key communication models and the defining features of a communication-friendly classroom, gaining clarity on how environment, interactions and routines influence language development.

With a strong practical focus, staff leave equipped with strategies to structure rich, language-focused learning environments that encourage confident participation from all children.

  • Build confidence in understanding and supporting children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) across early years and primary settings.

This session provides a clear overview of what DLD is, how it affects communication, learning and social interaction, and the impact it can have within the classroom.

Participants explore the key characteristics of DLD and develop practical, evidence-informed strategies to strengthen language, comprehension and participation.

Staff also gain guidance on creating DLD-friendly environments, including structured routines and targeted interaction techniques that promote confidence, inclusion and meaningful engagement.
